Main purpose of the position
The Junior Microsoft Fabric Data Engineer supports the development and operation of the People Data Hub by implementing and maintaining data pipelines, transformations, and data quality controls within Microsoft Fabric. The role works closely with senior engineers and architects to ensure reliable ingestion, processing, and delivery of HR data for reporting and analytics. The position contributes to maintaining secure, well-documented, and operationally stable data solutions while gaining hands-on experience with modern data platform technologies. Through day-to-day delivery activities, the role helps improve data consistency, automation, and scalability across the organization.
What you’ll do:
- Build and maintain data pipelines in Microsoft Fabric to ingest, transform, and prepare HR data for reporting and analytics.
- Develop and support data transformations following established Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold) patterns.
- Monitor data quality and validate incoming datasets, identifying issues and supporting resolution with senior engineers.
- Support secure and reliable operations by following data governance, security, deployment, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable data solutions and continuously improve the People Data Hub platform.

Key qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Fabric including Lakehouse, Data Pipelines, Notebooks, and OneLake, with a strong willingness to develop deeper platform expertise.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and data processing concepts, including querying, data validation, and basic data modeling principles.
- Foundational programming skills in Python and/or PySpark, with the ability to develop and troubleshoot simple data transformation logic.
- Understanding of ETL/ELT processes and data integration concepts, including working with files (CSV, Excel) and APIs as data sources.
- Awareness of data governance, security, and quality practices, including handling sensitive business data and following established standards and procedures.
- Preferred: Exposure to Azure Data Services, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Git, or cloud-based data platforms through projects, coursework, internships, or professional experience.
