About Group Internal Audit at ISS
Group Internal Audit engages with ISS subsidiaries around the world as well as Central Group Functions with the aim of providing the Executive Group Management Board, the Audit and Risk Committee and the Board of Directors of ISS with independent and objective assurance on the design and operational effectiveness of the system of internal controls as well as on effective implementation of Group objectives with the aim of fostering ONE ISS strategy across the ISS Group.
Main purpose of the position:
The role of a Group Internal Auditor at ISS is an independent senior level position, designed for an already experienced Internal Audit professional, that involves a broad exposure to finance, governance, risk & compliance, P&C (People and Culture), procurement, and other vital processes, as deemed material to the success of ISS Group. Therefore, please do not treat it as an entry level audit position – in order to succeed as a Group Internal Auditor at ISS you have to be a really well established audit professional.
The role also entails an exposure to both Country Leadership Team of each of the Audited ISS Subsidiaries, as well as ISS Group Central Function Owners (including Executive Group Management), with whom you will be able to discuss the approach towards the processes audited as well as agree the results of your work to assure alignment with ISS Group Expectations.
What you’ll do:
Your key responsibility as Group Internal Auditor will be to support the delivery of the Annual Audit Plan, as agreed by the Head of Group Internal Audit with the Audit and Risk Committee. This will include:
- Owning a portfolio of countries along with point of contract for Local internal control & compliance managers / Local Internal Auditors, for which you will:
- plan upcoming audit engagements, as agreed under the Annual Audit Plan,
- follow up on any urgent Country Level matters (local audit plans, changes in business environment that might affect local internal control environment, other),
- share any updates coming from either Group Internal Audit Team, or Group Functions, that might affect Country operations
- Assisting in development / updating of the Audit Work Programs (dependent upon the annual division of responsibilities within the Team)
- End-to-end management of assigned audit engagements:
- Planning of upcoming audits,
- Off-site audit review of received documentation,
- On-site Audit Procedures (walkthroughs, controls testing) performed in cooperation with Country Leadership Team and Local Internal Audit
- Leading the closing meeting with the Country Leadership Team at the end of the on-site audit visit,
- Preparing and communicating the Draft and Final Audit Report with the Audited Entity, Group Function Owners and Group Executive Management Team
- Engage in collaboration and knowledge sharing within the Group Internal Audit Team,
- Follow up on audit recommendations and collaboration with country and regional management to ensure that audit recommendations are correctly and timely implemented
- Collaborating with Group functions and selected countries around consultancy tasks,
- Travel to countries to assist in efforts to improve the internal controls environment and perform special investigations, if required.
Who you’ll work with:
Group Internal Audit Team is composed of:
- Head of GIA – stationing in Copenhagen
- Core GIA Team (4 great people + you) stationing in Warsaw
- Speak Up Team (2 great persons) stationing in Warsaw and Gdańsk.
Key professional qualifications:
- You have at least 5 years of experience in financial audit and/or internal audit (Big4 experience appreciated, but not a must),
- You hold a MSC in Finance / Economics / Auditing or a similar relevant education,
- You hold an EU work permit,
- You are fluent in English, both spoken and written (a MUST HAVE in this role),
- professional qualification, such as CIA / ACCA / other internal audit related, would be appreciated, however not required.

- You are independent, feeling comfortable when working freely, autonomously, and with limited involvement by others,
- You are organized and capable of successfully leading own projects end-to-end,
- You are an effective communicator, by which can lead communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences,
- You are courageous, rising up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said,
- You are credible, by which there is a consistency between your words and actions,
- You are persistent, steadfast in pursuit of goals, despite obstacles, discouragement, or distraction,
- You are opened to differences, willing to consider and explore differences in perspective, thought, and experience of people from a variety of backgrounds (the fact that you are right does not have to mean that someone else is wrong),
- You are set on travel activity (mainly international travel), approx. 20-25% of your time.
- and last but not least - you have a good sense of humour and are a nice person to work with (looking both from GIA Team and Auditees perspective) - ISS is a People Company, thus those traits do matter here ;)
