Main purpose of the position/ Key expectations:

Put simply, this role will be instrumental in achieving the objective of preventing harm to people and the environment, ensuring the safety of our 350,000 Placemakers around the world.  The role is provide infrastructure & governance to support the business in building a strong safety culture to achieve a sustained reduction in the rates of incidents and injury and ensuring individuals have the tools and systems to ensure individual and collective safety and wellness.

 

The HSE Central Support Team Lead will be responsible for operationalising the HSE strategy defined by the Global Head of HSE.  Leading the Support Team, the successful candidate will be accountable for aligning & consolidating ISS HSE systems and tools to create a connected and effective Global HSE platform. The role reports directly to the Global Head of HSE and will have accountability for the management of the Group HSE Support Team.

What you’ll do: 

The purpose of the role is to translate the Global HSE strategy, defined by the Group Head of HSE, into deliverables. 

 

Leadership

  • Lead and develop the Global HSE Central Support Team, working closely with Country HSE leaders to understand and support Country requirements.
  • Requires a strong collaborator with the ability to be flexible in their approach and ensure that account and Country requirements are captured in ISS HSE solutions.
  • Foster a Culture of Safety by providing effective HSE technical advice, communications promoting initiatives and achieving regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with key accounts & Country stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with counterparts in other parts of the ISS enterprise.

 

Standards

  • Development of globally consistent, simple HSE policies, standards, and minimum operational controls.
  • Design and oversight of an ISS Global HSE assurance programme applicable across all   functions, Countries and accounts to demonstrate compliance with the ISS global HSE standards.
  • Provision of a system to monitor Country legal requirements and an assurance programme to ensure ISS accounts are meeting their HSE statutory responsibilities.
  • Support Country HSE leads with the successful acquisition and retention of relevant ISO certifications for the HSE programme in close coordination with Global Operations Enablement.
  • Identification, sharing and development HSE training programs and resources in close coordination with the Learning & Development team.
  • Development and oversight of ISS global operating protocols for the safe management of ISS contractors and supply chain.

 

Technology & Data Management

  • Identification, implementation & maintenance of global, consistent, IT solutions and tools integrated with ISS operational IT systems to support compliance and the HSE management by the Country HSE teams.
  • Ownership and maintenance of ISS HSE IT solutions chosen to support day to day operations (including central accident reporting).
  • Tracking and reporting the latest advances in technology to support the Global   HSE programme.
  • Development of consistent reporting processes and tool to gather global   HSE data in order to inform the business of the effectiveness and compliance of HSE controls.
  • Working with the BIT teams to develop consistent dashboards for HSE KPI’s and management information for Global, Regional, Functional and Client reporting.
  • Data governance to ensure accuracy, security & continuity of data.
  • Monitoring, analysis & of management data to identify opportunities for improvement, areas of success and predict where resources should be most effectively allocated.

 

Business development

  • Support business growth by providing a global approach for new business pursuits.
  • Develop tools and templates to ensure a consistent HSE response for Client RFI/RFP.
  • Build a library of example good practice and case studies.

 

Communication and Reporting

  • Provision of regular performance reports to the Global HSE Lead and Global HSE Leadership Team against agreed KPIs and operational risk metrics.
  • Continually updating the knowledge platform including the collation and sharing of and best practices across the Global HSE community.
  • Supporting the Global HSE community to remain cohesive and connected with a common goal.
  • Provide Global HSE communications,
  • Ensure appropriate and efficient escalation processes for accident & incidents.
  • Support Country HSE teams with serious accident and incident investigations, providing root cause analysis tools and ensuring lessons learned are collated and cascaded to minimize future risk.
  • Promote HSE successes across, Clients, wider business and industry

 

Who you’ll work with:

The role will be required to build strong relationships across multiple stake holders across the business at Group & Country level including:

  • Group & Regional Functional Teams
  • Country managers and other senior executives (Ambassadors)
  • Country Operations Performance and HSEQ leads
  • Country Segment Leads
  • Global Key Accounts

 

Key qualifications and experience:

  • A senior HSE professional with advanced HSE qualifications (e.g. BSc. MSc. Post Grad Diploma).
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Chartered IOSH Membership (CMIOSH) or other equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience operating across multiple countries at a Global or regional scale
  • Experience of identifying and embedding operational technology solutions to ensure reporting and monitoring of HSE compliance across multiple markets.
  • Dynamic data analytics skills with the ability to solution complex data reporting requirements’
  • A solid understanding of risk management frameworks, controls and thresholds.
  • Accident investigation, in depth root cause analysis and development of lessons learned.
  • Experience defining "Best Practice" approaches in HSE across multi-country, multi-service businesses.
  • Previous experience of achieving & maintaining HSE management system accreditations.
  • Knowledge of managing HSE regulatory environments across all multiple countries.
