Senior Benefits Administrator

 

 

Key Purpose

 

The Senior Benefits Administrator is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, and 401(k) plan. The Senior Benefits Administrator provides exceptional customer service while interacting with employees and executives, and will utilize various HRIS, payroll, and vendor information systems to research and resolve employee concerns.

Key Areas of Collaboration and Influence

 

  • Report to the Benefits Manager, and work in close partnership with Compensation and Payroll, People & Culture Generalists, the ISS/Guckenheimer P&C team, Operations, and Senior Leadership
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues within business units and across the company so that information is disseminated effectively and participate in project groups and meetings as required
  • Promote the IFS model within the ISS/Guckenheimer community
  • Transfer best practice
  • Use the account to promote and further develop ISS/Guckenheimer

 

 

Ideal Candidate Experience

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field of study
  • 7+ years’ experience in benefits administration with an understanding of Health and Wellness, Retirement, and/or Total Rewards Programs
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) is ideal
  • MS Office knowledge – intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel (VLookUp, Pivot Tables, etc.)
  • Experience with JDE and ADP helpful but not required
  • Capability to master new HRIS and other information systems
  • Knowledge of U.S. Benefit concepts and laws
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid problem solving and time management skills
  • Detail oriented and process improvement minded
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels (verbal and written)
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism when dealing with challenging and confidential situations
  • Must be able to work independently, exercise discretion, and multi-task in a highly dynamic environment

 

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Ensure the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Assist with benefit plan onboarding of new employees.
  • Update and distribute all benefits enrollment materials and determine eligibility.
  • Create standard and ad hoc reports, templates and metrics in order to perform regular data quality checks of benefit data.
  • Assist and resolve employees escalated benefits claim issues and plan changes.
  • Resolve issues with escalated enrollment with carriers and process life status changes.
  • Respond to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
  • Function as a liaison between employees and vendors, on benefit related issues
  • Works with vendor on employee communication for benefits and wellness programs.
  • Assist employees with disability and life claims.
  • Support and coordinate with Retirement specialist 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
  • Assist in leading the open enrollment process.
  • Administer and provide support with Wellness program.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state and federal employee benefit laws and regulations including, but not limited to, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, as well as applicable IRS and DOL regulations.

 

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

 

  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Extended periods of walking on premises
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
  • Must be able to work under pressure and time deadlines during peak periods.
