Job Role as Senior Machine Learning:

We are looking for a Senior ML/AI Engineer to help stabilise and evolve our AI platform while developing and maintaining production-grade Generative AI solutions.

During the first 6–12 months, the role will focus primarily on helping to mature the existing platform, including guardrails, model access controls, API gateways, token usage, cost monitoring, observability and production readiness. As the platform becomes more established, the role will increasingly contribute to the design, delivery and ongoing improvement of LLM, RAG and agent-based solutions.

This is a hands-on engineering role combining AI application development, backend and platform engineering, and production operations.

What you’ll do:

Design, build, and maintain production GenAI solutions, including LLM-based applications, RAG pipelines, and multi-step agent workflows.

• Own technical delivery across the solution lifecycle, from refining requirements and preparing data through architecture, implementation, evaluation, and deployment.
• Develop backend APIs, services, and integrations that connect AI capabilities with business systems and enterprise data sources.
• Build evaluation approaches that assess solution quality, relevance, safety, and reliability, using results to guide improvements.
• Own solutions in production, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident resolution, and ongoing improvements to performance, latency, and cost.
• Apply sound software engineering practices, including automated testing, version control, CI/CD, containerisation, and clear technical documentation.
• Work within established platform, security, and governance standards, integrating with shared services and flagging gaps; where needed, contribute to specific AI platform components such as AI-related gateway policies.
• Collaborate with technical and business colleagues to translate requirements into reliable solutions, communicate trade-offs, and share knowledge with less experienced engineers.
• Assess emerging GenAI techniques and tools for their practical value to the team's solutions.

Key qualifications:

Must have

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering roles, including 2+ years developing GenAI solutions, with demonstrated ownership of production deployment and ongoing operation.
• Hands-on experience building complex GenAI applications, including multi-step agent workflows and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Strong Python programming skills and experience developing production backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Practical experience with orchestration frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent tooling.
• Experience deploying and operating solutions in cloud environments, using containerisation and CI/CD.
• Practical experience evaluating GenAI systems, including designing test cases, assessing failure modes, and checking for regressions as solutions change.
• Solid knowledge of relational databases such as PostgreSQL, alongside experience with vector search and retrieval.
• Experience applying security, observability, and governance requirements within production solutions
• Strong written and spoken English.

Nice have

• Experience working with shared AI platforms, model gateways, proxies, or API management services.
• Exposure to AI-specific platform controls, including rate limits, quotas, gateway policies, and cost monitoring.
• Experience integrating AI applications with enterprise systems and retrieving information across multiple data sources.
• Familiarity with platforms such as Databricks, Microsoft Foundry, or similar tooling.
• Experience with Kubernetes or infrastructure as code.
• Ability to help stakeholders refine problems and define measurable success criteria.
